Presented is a fantastic quality Coalport double handled vase or urn dating to 1890-1915.The piece has a vibrant yellow ground color and is very ornately decorated with gold gilt palmettes, stylized flowers and stars, all with raised dots and lines in the gold in the highly textured style for which Coalport is known. The handles and the interior are richly gilt with a matte finish, giving the piece a very regal look.
This piece is in excellent condition. There is some crazing to the glaze, but all the raised gold decoration and gilding is in great shape. There are no chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs.
The underside is signed Coalport, England in green, with hand written product or decoration numbers beneath and to the side.
This piece stands about 11 3/8 inches tall and measures about 9 3/8 inches across the handles, or about 6 1/2 inches wide without the handles. -jm
