Presented is a beautiful basket from Whiting, made in the late 1800s. This piece has beautiful engraved flowers throughout the pierced piece. The different types of flowers display interwoven stems and a variety of floral clusters. The middle of the piece displays a monogram, “MH”, in flowing script. The basket is edged with an engraved foliated border. The handle is on a hinge so that it can either stand up straight or can be brought to one side.
The basket is marked sterling along with the maker's mark for Whiting.
This piece is in excellent condition. There are no splits or breaks in the silver. The engraved details are crisp and well-defined. There are no breaks or repairs.
