Presented is a whimsical Japanese cloisonne napkin ring from the Meiji period. Made in the late 1800s to early 1900s, this piece displays two multicolored dragons chasing a flaming pearl, surrounded by a blue cloudy background. The ring is made on copper and also displays enamel on the interior. “The pearl is a symbol of wisdom, spiritual energy and power and the dragon represents prosperity and good luck as well as being a rain deity.”
This piece is in good condition, especially considering age and material. There are a few chips in the interior enamel which can be seen well in the fourth photo. There are no cracks or breaks in the copper, and no repairs.
This piece measures about 1 3/4 inches in diameter and about 1 1/4 inches wide. -kc
