Presented is a nice Japanese studio pottery bowl. This piece dates to around the 1920s-1930s. The interior of the bowl has a large, colorful design of a ship in the center, complete with sails, rigging, and sailors. The interior rim of the bowl has a design in blue of stylized waves. The exterior of the bowl is decorated with large beautiful irises in blue, red and gold. This is a good size bowl raised on a footed base, suitable as a centerpiece or fruit bowl but equally lovely displayed on its own.
The bowl is in great condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs.
The bowl is signed in blue on the underside with a Japanese maker's mark we unfortunately cannot read.
The bowl stands about 3 3/4 inches tall and is about 9 1/2 inches in diameter.
