Presented is a very pretty, 10 karat yellow gold and hand carved shell cameo brooch or pin made during the late 19th or early 20th century. This piece was made between 1910 and 1930. The wide 10 karat gold mounting is engraved with bright cut leaves. The center is securely bezel set with a highly raised cameo of a robed young woman with flowers in her hair. The back of the mounting has a hinged bale or loop for hanging the piece as a pendant. The clasp has a safety latch for added security.
The clasp is marked 10K. The setting has been tested with nitric acid and is also guaranteed to be 10 karat gold purity. This piece is in fabulous overall condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no dents, no breaks and no repairs.
