Presented is a vintage, 40 piece, sterling silver flatware set made by Frank Smith. This set is in the Fiddle Shell aka Alden pattern, which was patented in 1914. Each handle is done in a classic Threaded Fiddle Shell pattern and the handles have never been monogrammed. This set comes in a fitted, wooden box to prevent tarnish. There are only 6 teaspoons, but this is the easiest place setting type to find for sale, so you can easily find more to add to this set.
This set includes:
11 Knives: 8 3/4 inches.
10 Forks: 7 1/4 inches.
11 Lunch/Salad Forks: 6 1/2 inches.
6 Teaspoons: 5 3/4 inches.
2 Serving Spoons: 8 1/4 inches.
The back of each piece is marked for Frank Smith and sterling silver purity.
This set is in excellent overall condition. There is minor surface wear to the pieces but the raised designs are crisp. One knife handle has a slight dent to the very tip.
The total weight, not including the knives, is 1,457 grams or 51.3 ounces.
