Victorian Etruscan Revival 14k Gold Garnet Brooch Pin

Presented is a classic American Victorian Etruscan Revival 14K gold brooch. The pin is bezel set with a cabochon garnet (or possibly a cabochon piece of glass, but considering the age probably a garnet) surrounded with intricate applied bead and wire work. This piece has the old C style clasp on the reverse as well as a hook so that a pendant or watch can hang from it. The pin was made in the 1850s to 1870s.

This piece is not marked. We have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 14K gold.

The original clasp has been reinforced on both sides as you can see in the last photograph. This repair was well done; it is completely invisible from the front. Otherwise, the condition is excellent. There are no chips, no cracks, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.

The pin measures 1 1/2 inches in diameter.

The weight is 16 grams.
