Victorian 10k Yellow Gold Cameo of a Young Woman Slider Watch Chain Necklace
Presented is a fantastic antique Victorian 10 karat gold watch chain with
slider, dating to around the 1860-1900. The slider is a really nice one, set
with a finely hand carved hardstone cameo in black and white, depicting a
classically Greco-Roman type figure of a woman. The slider also features
intricately hand engraved texturing and a fine border of black enamel around the
edge, a very stately look overall. The chain about 32 inches long, with a
lobster claw type clasp at one end. Though this piece was made as a watch chain,
it could be worn as a necklace today, with the clasp positioned at the back or
hanging beneath the slider with a watch pendant attached, etc.
slider moves well on the chain. The clasp is a little stiff but is secure.
This piece is not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested both the chain
and slider with nitric acid and guarantee both to be 10 karat gold.
The total length is approximately 32 inches, so if you wear it doubled it
will be about 16 inches. The slider is about 1 inch by ¾ of an inch.
This piece weighs 37.8 grams or 1.3 regular ounces.
