Presented is a stunning mid-century modern ceramic bud vase from David Holleman. This piece displays amazing modernist cubist figures, objects, and scenes. Among these figures there are many geometric designs. The vase is completely round with a small bud vase opening at the top. The piece is glazed in neutral tones which give an earthy and somewhat ancient feel. Some of the pattern details seem reminiscent of Picasso or other well-known cubist artists.
This piece is signed on the underside with the star mark and Holleman for David Holleman. David Holleman was a well known New England Artist who did many murals and mosaic commission around the United States, England, and Africa. He is very well known for the Aztec Calendar Stone ceramic mural on display at the Boston Science Museum under the Foucault Pendulum.
This piece is in excellent condition. There is only one small spot where the glaze has worn. This can be seen in picture 2. There is no other surface wear to be found. There are no breaks and no repairs. Exquisite piece!
