Regular price
$553.00
Presented is a stunning set of 12 antique Czech/Bohemian ruby glass wine glasses, dating to around the 1850s-1880s. These glasses are made in a beautiful almost Gothic form, with wide round bowls, paneled cuts around the lower bodies, and a lenticular knop around the midpoint of the stem. The glasses are hand blown, with polished pontils visible on the undersides of the feet. The glass is a very rich ruby red, done very thickly over clear glass. These glasses have a capacity of about 8 ounces, or 237 milliliters. Perfect for a large pour of the wine of your choice, but also a decent size for use as a water goblet in your table setting.
This set of glasses is in great overall condition. Some of the glasses have variations in the thickness of the feet, which could be mistaken for places where chips were ground smooth; however these don't go all the way through the ruby glass to the clear glass beneath, so it doesn't seem like they can have been chips, but are rather original to the making of the glasses. One glass has two little chips to the foot, which do go all the way down to the clear, and another glass has one small chip to the underside of the foot, but these are incredibly minor and hard to spot. Noticeable shelf wear to the undersides of the feet, which is a good sign of the set's age.
No chips to the drinking rim.
Each glass stands about 5 inches tall and measures about 3 1/4 inches at the rim. -jm
