Presented is a fantastic pair of signed Moorcroft English art pottery candlesticks. These are relatively contemporary pieces, made in 2000 for sale from the Dahesh Museum of Art. The candlesticks are black, beautifully hand decorated with figs, clusters of grapes, and other fruit in a heavily hand painted impasto style called tubelining, giving the candlesticks a nice textured look. These candlesticks retailed new for $288 each, but we are pleased to offer these fine Moorcroft pieces at a more reasonable price.
This pair of candlesticks is in excellent condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs.
The candlesticks are signed on the underside with Moorcroft as well as 'Made in Stoke on Trent England' and the year they were made, 2000. Each candlestick has a couple of initial markings as well, for individual craftsmen and painters. Both candlesticks still have their original price stickers from the Dahesh Museum of Art.
Each candlestick stands about 8 1/8 inches tall and measures about 5 inches at the base. -jm
