Presented is a beautiful pair of English sterling silver and cut glass dresser jars, part of a larger dressing set of which we have many pieces for sale. The silver lids and collars of these jars are by Finnigans Ltd and are dated 1927, while the glass is unsigned but of exceptional quality, likely a high end English maker like Thomas Webb or Steven & Williams. The lids feature very ornate decoration in the form of machine turned radiant designs, fruit, leaf, and flower borders, and ropetwist edging. The glass is cut and frosted with intricate floral swags, egg-and-dart style leaves and flowers. The silver has a rich gold wash, which gives the jars a very high end, luxurious look that would be a grand addition to any vanity or dressing room's décor.

Of the two jars, one is in pristine condition, no chips, cracks, breaks, or repairs to the glass. The other glass has some cracks, as you can see in the final photograph, but it has plenty of uncracked surface area and is still functional, the cracks would be particularly unnoticeable if the jar were filled with powder.
The lids are both in excellent condition, with sharp crisp detailing and only the most minor wear to the gold wash.

The interior of the lid of the jar with no cracks or cork lining is fully hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head for the city of London, the maker's mark for Finnigans Ltd, and the date letter m for 1927. The silver rim of the jar is likewise hallmarked with the lion passant, the leopard's head, and the maker's mark. The jar with the cracks has a cork lining the lid, but underneath are the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head for the city of London, the maker's mark for Finnigans Ltd, and the date letter L for 1926, as well as Finnigans Ltd New Bond St. W, spelled out.

Each jar is about 2 1/2 inches tall and measures about 3 inches in diameter.

The total weight for both of the sterling silver lids is 143 grams or 5.0 regular ounces. This does not include the glass, or the sterling silver rims. -jm
