Presented is a fabulous Italian 800 silver 77 piece flatware set. This set dates to the first half of the 1900s and was made by Marinai. The set is done in a lovely pattern with a reeded design around the edges of the handles, with little foliate decorations here and there and a bold ivy or grape leaf type of design on the backs of the tines/bowls. The set serves 12 with 5-piece place settings, including full dinner size knives and forks and an assortment of useful serving pieces. The knives have silver handles and stainless steel blades in the New French style.

The set consists of:
  • 12 dinner knives--9 7/8 inches long.
  • 12 dinner forks--8 3/8 inches long.
  • 12 oval soup/place spoons--8 3/8 inches long.
  • 12 salad forks--5 1/4 inches long.
  • 12 teaspoons--5 1/4 inches long.
  • 6 fish/luncheon forks--7 inches long.
  • 6 demitasse spoons--4 3/4 inches long.
  • 1 gravy/sauce serving ladle--6 3/4 inches long.
  • 1 large serrated bread knife--12 inches long.
  • 1 large serving spoon--10 5/8 inches long.
  • 1 large serving  fork--10 5/8 inches long.
  • 1 large serving ladle--13 1/8 inches long.

  • Each non-knife piece is stamped with a maker's mark ACC with 800 for the purity of the silver. The dinner forks, 11 of the oval soup spoons, the sauce ladle, and the soup ladle also have the mark Marinai. The knives and the bread knife are marked ACC on the collar of the handle, with the dinner knives having 'Argenteria Marinai Milano' and 'inossidable' on the blades. The bread knife is marked 'inox' and 'fixpat' on the blade. The demitasse spoons are unstamped, likely due to their small size, but are undoubtedly the same maker and pattern.

This set is in great condition. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

The total weighable silver weight for the set is 3617 grams or 127.6 regular ounces. This weight does not include the dinner knives and the bread knife, which have stainless steel blades and sterling handles.
