Superb Hand Carved Cameo of a Young Woman 14k Gold Filigree Pin Brooch Pendant

Presented is a wonderful quality carved shell cameo pin in a 14 K gold frame. The shell is beautifully carved with a lovely young woman in classical attire. She has flowers in her flowing hair and at her shoulders. The cameo is securely bezel set in an elegant 14 K gold filigree frame. There is a loop on the back of the frame so that the pin can also be worn as a pendant.
This piece is antique, and certainly over 100 years old. This cameo was certainly made between the 1880's to approximately 1910. The gold frame was most likely made in the USA or possibly Italy. The shell cameo itself was almost certainly carved in Italy as is typical.
The pin stem is marked K12. The clasp is stamped 14k. It is possible that this clasp is a replacement of an older C style clasp. We have tested the pin and everything is 14k gold except for the pin stem which is 12k gold. This leads me to believe that the pin stem was probably replaced at some time and the jeweler used whatever they had available. The condition is excellent. There are no chips, no cracks, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs. The pin measures 1 1/2 inches by 2 inches.The weight is 16.1 grams.
