Presented is a superb French silver pot and creamer, made by G. Falkenberg and dating to the late 1800s or early 1900s. These pieces are made from French first standard silver, which has a purity of 950. It's worth noting that this is a higher purity standard than sterling, which is 925. The pot is done in a side-handled form, great for serving tea, hot chocolate, or coffee. The pot and the creamer have a ribbed design over the lower portion of their bodies, with finely hand engraved designs above. The spout of the pot features a bold mask of a woman's face underneath, possibly Diana, Minerva, or another classical Greco-Roman figure, though the plumes and neck-ruffle would be a later style. The handles of both the pot and the creamer are beautiful rich mellow wood. The pieces are very well made from thick, heavy gauge silver, with a nice feeling of weight in the hand.

Each piece is stamped with the French first standard hallmark of Minerva's head, for 950 purity silver, as well as a maker's mark for G. Falkenberg. The creamer is stamped on each side of the handle. The pot is stamped with the maker's mark as well as the name spelled out, G. Falkonberg, on the underside. The maker's mark is also stamped on the lip of the lid of the pot. The Minerva's head hallmark is stamped on the finial as well as the side of the pot.

This set is in great condition. The gold wash inside the creamer is in great shape. There are no splits, no leaks, no dents, no cracks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

The pot stands about 8 1/4 inches tall.
The creamer stands about 4 1/4 inches tall.

The total weight for the pair is 820 grams or 28.9 regular ounces. -jm
