Presented is an exceptional quality Chinese porcelain vase, exquisitely decorated and made in a classical amphora or liuyeping form. This is a 20th century piece, though it honors richly decorated Yongzheng-reign bird and flower vases in coloration and style. The vase has a vibrant yellow ground color showcasing very colorful and skillfully done decoration in the form of phoenixes, cranes, peonies, and peach blossoms, with their accompanying leafy branches, rocky outcroppings, and bamboo leaves. The decoration is all incredibly detailed, and the birds in particular are done in a raised style so they really stand out, while the yellow ground has a subtle incised scrollwork texture, giving the entire vase a very tactile element. This is a wonderful piece and would be a great addition to any home's decor.
This piece is in excellent condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs.
The underside is signed with a Yongzheng four character mark in underglaze blue.
The vase stands about 18 1/2 inches tall and measures about 9 1/2 inches in diameter at the widest point, or about 5 5/8 inches in diameter at the mouth. -jm
