Superb Antique 1912 English 15k Yellow Gold Diamond Pearl Brooch Pin
Regular price
$468.00
Presented is a charming 15K gold, diamond and pearl brooch made in England. The pin has a gold disc at the center topped with an old rose cut diamond surrounded with six pearls. The rest of the pin is decorated with scrolling flowers and leaves. All of this applied work was done one piece at a time, extremely labor-intensive, and the pin had to be created by a top-quality jeweler. The pin has the old C style clasp on the reverse.
The pin is hallmarked on the reverse with 15 and .625 for 15K gold, the city mark for Chester, the date letter ‘M’ for 1912, and a maker’s mark of CM. 15k gold was common in Victorian England and into the early 1900s. It is obviously a little bit higher in purity than 14 karat gold.
The condition is excellent. The center diamond has some surface inclusions including a crack. Otherwise there are no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.
The pin measures 3/4 inch wide and 1 7/8 inches long.
The weight is 4.1 grams.
