Presented is a fine antique English sterling silver large caster or muffineer. This piece is dated 1909 and was made by Charles Boyton & Son. The caster is made in a classical form, with gadroon decoration around the foot and around the rim of the lid. The lid is pierced in a nicely decorative way, with a little baluster finial at the top. Great for caster sugar, cinnamon sugar, or anything else you like.
This piece is hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head for the city of London, the date letter o for 1909, and the maker's mark for Charles Boyton & Son Ltd, on the side. The lid has the same marks on the lip, but the maker's mark is partially rubbed.
This piece is in excellent overall condition. There are some minor surface abrasions below the hallmarks on the side, but these are hard to notice and could be polished out. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The caster measures about 8 1/2 inches tall.
