Superb 1894 Royal Worcester Green Gold 16" Ewer Pitcher Vase Tudor Rose Mark
Regular price
$568.00
Presented is a fantastic quality green and gold ewer or pitcher by Royal Worcester, dated 1894. The ewer is an impressive large size, with a vibrant green body and ornately decorated handle, collar, and foot. The green color is a lovely apple green, most accurately shown in the second photograph, though color will vary from monitor to monitor/device screen and with different lighting of course. The shoulder and collar as well as the handle and foot are done in a cream/buff coloration, with fine gold gilt detailing picking out the intricate scrollwork and foliate decoration. The piece is very impressive and eye-catching, and would make a great addition to any home's décor.
This piece is in great overall condition. There are two tiny chips that have been re-gilded, pointed out in the eighth photograph. There is some minor wear to the gilding here and there, but nothing significant or noticeable without close, careful inspection. There are no other chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs.
The underside is marked with the Royal Worcester mark, dated 1894, as well as an English registry mark, a number 58 in underglaze blue, and a green Tudor rose mark, likely an indication of a royal commission or warrant.
The ewer stands about 16 inches tall at the highest point of the handle.
The ewer measures about 8 inches at the widest point including the handle, or about 7 1/2 inches in diameter for the body itself. -jm
