Presented is a fantastic set of 12 antique Kirk sterling silver handle dinner knives. These knives are made in the Mayflower pattern, which began production in 1846. This is one of the most collectible and desirable Kirk patterns, featuring a very appealing engraved foliate scrollwork motif and bright cut engraving surrounding a cartouche. These knives have a monogram of CAH in the cartouche on one side of the handle, but the opposite side is blank. These knives have stainless steel blades in the Old Blunt form.
This set of knives is in excellent overall condition. There are only the most minor of dings to the ends of the handles. The details of the pattern are clean and crisp. No splits, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The knives are marked 'sterling' on the collars of the handles, while the blades are marked S. Kirk & Son Co and 'stainless.'
Each knife is about 9 5/8 inches long.
The total weight for the set is 965 grams or 34 regular ounces. Due to the stainless steel blades and weighted handles, not all of this weight is sterling silver. -jm
