Presented is a wonderful quality 14K gold Art Nouveau bar pin by Bippart, Griscom & Osborn of Newark, New Jersey. The pin is beautifully done with a small pearl at the center flanked by green and orange enameled leaves and berries. The bar pin is much longer than average. It has the old style clasp on the reverse. It was made around 1900 or 1905.
The pin is hallmarked on the reverse with 14K and a maker’s mark for Bippart, Griscom & Osborn, a high quality American company. We have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 14K gold.
The condition is excellent. There might be a tiny chip here and there to the orange enamel, but because the areas enameled in orange are so small, it is very difficult to say for certain. If there are any flaws to the enameling, they are only noticeable upon very close inspection. The pearl is securely mounted and has nice nacre. The clasp is working well. There are no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.
The pin is 3 1/8 inches long.
The weight is 4.6 grams.
