Presented is a rare Georg Jensen 2 piece sterling silver handled relish or caviar serving set. This set is made in the Acanthus pattern, which began production in 1917. This is one of Jensen's most famous and beloved patterns, featuring a stylized acanthus leaf design to the terminal of the handle. This serving set consists of a spoon and fork, with the bodies done in rich highly polished black material, suitable for serving briny or acidic things like caviar, pickled relishes, etc. This is a harder to find Jensen piece, with very few examples for sale; retailing from Replacements the set costs $300 and at the time of this listing is the only one in stock. This set is in excellent condition. The black material is clean and highly polished with no chips, cracks or other damages. The silver has no splits, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
Both pieces are stamped with the Georg Jensen maker's mark as well as Denmark and sterling. Both the fork and spoon measure about 6 1/2 inches long.
The total weight for the set is 56 grams, though due to the bodies not all of this weight is sterling silver. -jm
