Presented is a stunningly elegant hand painted porcelain bowl made by Meissen. The large bowl is a wonderful white color with a wide, raised leaf border. The raised leaf patterns are carefully outlined in gilding to beautiful effect. The center of the bowl is carefully hand painted with a lovely cluster of purple and yellow flowers.
The bowl is marked in blue on the underside with the blue crossed swords mark for the Meissen mark used between 1924-1934. There are two cancel marks across it.
The condition is excellent. The bowl rings beautifully. The original gilding is in great shape, with only a little wear here and there. The central painting is in fabulous condition. There are very few utensil marks to the bowl, and I suspect it was rarely used. The side of the bowl also has a small brown dimple which is under the glaze. This is visible in the second to last photo. As you can see, it is very small and, because of the bowl's shape, will never be noticed when the bowl is set on the dinner table. There are no chips, no cracks, no crazing, no breaks, and no repairs.
The bowl measures approximately 12 inches in diameter and 2 inches tall.
The bowl weighs 2 pounds, 2 ounces.
