Presented is a fabulous antique porcelain compote, likely English, dating to circa the 1850s-1870s. The compote is white porcelain with a bold rust red border around the rim and foot, featuring a Greek Key design in darker red. The center of the 'basin' as well as the underside are beautifully hand painted with colorful groups of flowers, richly detailed and well done. The shaft is intricately gold gilt with lavish decoration, with raised fluting for a very elegant look. The rim of both the top and the base are likewise gilded, which really shines against the red borders.

This piece is in excellent condition. The painted decoration and gilding are in great shape. There are no chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs.

The compote measures about 10 1/2 inches in diameter and stands about 6 inches tall. -jm
