Stunning 18k White Gold Ruby Pearl Diamond Clasp For Necklace Pearl Strand

Presented is a stunning 18 karat white gold, ruby, pearl and diamond clasp, for a necklace or string of pearls. This piece dates to around the 1950s and is likely of American make. The clasp is done in a round domed sort of design, set with a large mabe pearl, about 15 millimeters in diameter. Surrounding the central pearl are 24 rubies and 48 diamonds. The rubies are pear, oval, and round cut stones, totaling at least 1.5 carats in weight. These are real, mined-from-the-ground rubies, well matched in their rich red color. The diamonds are vibrant, dazzling stones totaling 1 to 1.25 carats in weight. The clasp has a little loop on each side so a string of pearls or a necklace can be attached. The clasp is a tongue insert style with a safety latch for added security. This is a very well made and high quality piece; we believe the pearl is a later replacement for a large diamond or other gemstone. Whatever the case, this is a beautiful piece
