Presented is a great carved multi stone necklace. The necklace has various types of stone carved into various sizes and types of animals. These types of carvings are often referred to as fetishes. The carvings have been strung onto a cord necklace. Some of the animals represented are bears, fish, birds, frogs, rabbits, and other small creatures. The stone varies between types of agate, shell, jet, and mother of pearl. The largest carving hangs in the center and it is an agate bear standing on its hind legs. The portion on the necklace that lays on the back of the neck is soft braided cotton cord.
This is an American piece made in the 20th century.
