Signed Najim H Chechen Patinated Bronze Modern Art Sculpture "Poet" dated 1985
Regular price
$556.00
Presented is a striking bronze sculpture by Iraqi-born Turkmen artist Najim H. Chechen, dated 1985 and titled simply “Poet.” The sculpture depicts a kneeling figure gazing upward, done in a very abstract and impressionistic style, with a weathered patina to the bronze lending to the emotion of the piece. The artist is known for his very emotive and impactful style, which paired with his chosen subject matter of his native country and the effects of war makes for very visually arresting pieces of art. This sculpture seems to take the interior life of someone with a poet's heart living through violence and make it something visible from the outside, making this a very moving piece, perhaps auto-biographical.
This piece is in great condition. The weathered effect of the patina is a deliberate artistic choice. The base is well attached. No breaks and no repairs.
The bronze is signed for Najim H. Chechen and dated 1985, while the base still has a sticker with the name of the sculpture “Poet,” the artist's name, Bronze#7 and the original price of $700.
This bronze stands about 12 1/2 inches tall and the base measures about 10 1/2 x 7 inches.
The sculpture weights 16 pounds 14 ounces or 7.7 kilograms. -jm
