Presented is a lovely set of 5 antique American coin silver demitasse or coffee spoons, dating to around the 1850s. These spoons are made in an elegant pattern featuring bright cut or diamond cut decoration on the handles, which catches the light very attractively. These spoons have a monogram of C on the terminals of the handles, nicely engraved in Gothic lettering. The maker of the spoons, Farrington & Hunnewell, is a well known and highly regarded Boston area maker.
These spoons are stamped with the maker's mark for Farrington & Hunnewell. The silver is coin (900) purity, nitric acid tested and guaranteed.
This set of spoons is in excellent condition. The details of the pattern are nice and crisp. There are no splits, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
Each spoon measures about 4 5/8 inches long.
The total weight for the set is 51 grams or 1.8 regular ounces.
