Set 12 c1920s Royal Doulton Noke's Tiffany Co Raised Gilt Rim 9.5" Soup Bowls
Regular price
$1,280.00
Presented is a fantastic quality set of 12 antique Royal Doulton porcelain wide rim soup bowls or soup plates. These bowls date to circa the 1920s and were made for retail by Tiffany & Co New York. As you'd expect for the Tiffany name, this is a very luxurious and high end set, featuring intricate gold gilt decoration around the rim done in a very distinctive raised style, which adds a textural element to the design. The undersides have gold gilt foot rims, which is a particular mark of quality in china.
Each bowl is signed on the underside with the Royal Doulton mark, as well as the retail mark for Tiffany & Company New York and a Doulton & Noke's Patent mark, which we assume refers specifically to the raised gilding decoration technique.
This set of bowls is in excellent overall condition. One of the twelve has noticeable crazing to the glaze, but still rings nicely when tapped and is not discolored. The rest are pristine. There are no chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs.
Each bowl measures about 9 1/2 inches in diameter. -jm
