Presented is a fabulous set of 12 antique American coin silver dessert or ice cream spoons, or possibly very decorative coffee spoons. These spoons were made by Thomas Cresson Garrett and date to around the early to mid 1800s. The spoons are very finely hand engraved as well as decorated with machine turned latticework designs, surrounding a cartouche on the handle. Each spoon has a G monogram in Gothic lettering. The bowls of the spoons are made in a fluted, decorative shape.
Each spoon is stamped with the maker's mark for Thomas Cresson Garrett, a renowned Philadelphia silversmith.
This set is in excellent condition. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
Each spoon measures about 5 3/4 inches long.
The total weight for the set is 197 grams or 6.9 regular ounces. -jm
