Presented is a fine set of 10 antique/vintage Mason's Ironstone china double handle soup bowls with saucers/underplates, dating to circa 1900-1940. The set consists of 10 bowls as you'd see for bouillon style soups, though of course they can be used for cream soups or however else you like, and 10 matching underplates or saucers. These soup cups and saucers are made in the highly sought after Flying Bird pattern, which is a vibrant and colorful Chinoiserie pattern depicting a long tailed bird in flight surrounded by stunning flowers and foliage. The palette is a very eye-catching array of blues, greens, orange, and pink shades, with fine gold gilt detailing. This pattern was originally made by Davenport starting circa 1815, but would go on to be made by Mason's Ironstone and other high end English companies as well. We have many additional pieces in this pattern from the same estate including some particularly rare examples, which you can find by searching “Flying Bird” in our store.

This set is in great overall condition. All of the saucers have some crazing to the glaze, as we've already seen in many other Mason's Flying Bird lots/pieces from this time, but this is minor. Of the bowls, four have no crazing, while the rest have some crazing and three have some very minor discoloration. Of the saucers, all have very minor crazing and one has a tiny chip to the underside. There are no other chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs.

Each piece is stamped on the underside with the mark for Mason's Patent Ironstone China, England.

Each bowl stands about 2 1/4 inches at the rim and measures about 4 3/4 inches across the handles.
Each saucer measures about 5 1/2 inches in diameter. -jm
