Presented is a fantastic English sterling silver wine coaster. This piece is dated 1992, and is the work of renowned designer Paul Belvoir. The dish is done in a cylindrical form with a very modern look, very typical of Paul Belvoir's work.
The front of the dish has an elegant swirl design inlaid in yellow metal, we are unsure if it is gold or brass. We have been told that it is 18k gold. We have not tested the yellow metal because it is flush with the surface of the silver.
This wine bottle coaster is very well made, with a very impressive weight and feeling of quality. Paul Belvoir's work is not easy to find, and this attractive example represents a rare opportunity for any collector.
This piece is in excellent condition. There are a couple of minor surface abrasions, but nothing of any consequence. There are no splits, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
This piece is hallmarked on the underside with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head for the city of London, the date letter S for 1992, and the maker's mark for Paul Belvoir.
This piece measures about 3 ¾ inches in diameter and stands about 2 ¾ inches tall. This piece weighs 549 grams or 19.4 regular ounces.
