Presented is a wonderful quality matched pair of solid sterling silver table pheasants. These pheasants date to around the 1950s-1970s and are of Mexican make. The pheasants are solid silver and quite heavy, with the male pheasant weighing in at 1190 grams (2.6 pounds) and the female weighing in at 1235 grams (2.7 pounds). That's a lot of silver! The birds are cast in a beautifully lifelike way, with hand chased detailing for the texturing of the feathers, feet, and beaks. In our research, these are easily the largest and nicest quality table pheasants for sale on the internet today. These are truly superb table decorations, guaranteed to make an impression.

Both birds are stamped on the underside of the tail with the Mexican government tax/assay mark of an eagle, with what I believe is the number '1' for Mexico city. The male pheasant is also stamped sterling 925 and with a maker's mark that looks like LM.

This pair of pheasants is in excellent condition. The details are nice and crisp. The birds stand up securely on their own. There are no losses, not even a single toe. No breaks, and no repairs.

The male pheasant measures about 13 1/2 inches from the tip of the tail to the tip of the beak, and stands about 6 3/4 inches tall at the highest point. The female pheasant measures about 12 inches from the tip of the tail to the front of the breast, and stands about 6 3/4 inches tall at the highest point.

The total weight for the pair is 2425 grams or 85.5 regular ounces. -jm
