RARE LATE 1700s ENGLISH GEORGIAN SHEFFIELD SILVER PLATE DISH CROSS
Regular price
$393.00
Presented is a wonderful, rare old English Sheffield silver plate dish cross made between the late 1700s to early 1800s. This piece is very old, about 200 years old or older. The arms open and close to adjust and the feet slide along the shaft to adjust to the serving dish's size. Each leg is in the form of a scroll that tops a grooved oval foot. This is a rare piece that would make a fabulous, unique addition to any collection. Antique Georgian dish crosses are actually more common in sterling than old Sheffield plate. This is a wonderful example!
The piece is unmarked, and there are no monograms or monogram removals. The condition is excellent, given its age. The plate is worn on the high points. The knobs at the ends of the arms might not be original to the cross. There are no breaks, no cracks, no splits, no dents and no repairs.
The distance from one arm end to the other is about 13 inches long. The dish cross is about 3 3/4 inches high.
