Presented is a wonderful KPM porcelain sugar bowl and creamer, dating to the second half of the 20th century. These pieces are made in the stylish Urbino pattern, designed by German artist Trude Petri circa 1931. This pattern, featuring timelessly simple round forms rendered in striking white, is both beautiful and practical, very much in the Bauhaus spirit of the time. Petri's Urbino service won awards at both the Milan Triennial art and design exposition and the Paris World Fair, and is likely her first pattern to gain real notoriety. Pieces in this pattern are still in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art today. But artistry and history aside, these are supremely practical and useable pieces that would be an excellent addition to any table setting. Please note, we have additional pieces available in this pattern, which you can find by searching “Urbino” in our store.

Each piece is signed on the underside with the KPM sceptre mark in underglaze blue.

These pieces are in excellent condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs.

The sugar measures about 3 inches in diameter and about 3 7/8 inches tall at the top of the lid. The creamer measures about 4 1/4 from handle to spout and stands about 3 3/8 inches at the tallest point. -jm
