Presented is a fabulous quality antique American coin silver ice cream slice, or serving knife, dating to around the 1850s. The knife is made by Albert Coles in the classic Jenny Lind pattern, and features a beautifully hand engraved blade. The blade depicts an idyllic landscape scene with buildings and trees surrounded by finely engraved foliate scrollwork. The blade is serrated along the top edge. The handle has an inscription reading “Hattie to Sarah.” Please note, we have additional c1850s Jenny Lind pattern servers for sale, which you can find by searching the pattern name in our storefront.

This piece is stamped with the maker's mark for Albert Coles. The silver is coin (900) purity silver, nitric acid tested and guaranteed.

This piece is in great overall condition, particularly considering the age. There are some dings to the handle, as the photos show. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monograms, and no repairs.
The knife is about 11 inches long.

This piece weighs 107 grams, or 3.8 regular ounces. Due to weighting in the handle, not all of this weight is coin silver. -jm
