Rare c1750s Colonial American Coin Silver Counter Box Or Button Box
Regular price
$360.00
Presented is a rare American coin silver counter box or button box from 1740s
through the 1770s. Counter boxes were used to hold the counters or chips used to
keep track of the score when gambling. The top is monogrammed with a TP in an
ornate cursive style.
The counter box is unmarked, as is common of American silver from this time
period. We have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be at least coin (900)
silver purity.
The condition is good. There is mild surface wear commensurate with age and
use. There are a few tiny dings here and there, all very very minor and only
noticeable on very close inspection. The base has partially separated from the
sides, although the split could easily be soldered. The lid fits very snugly.
There are no other problems.
The box measures just under 1 inch in diameter and 7/8 inches tall.
The weight is 7.8 grams.
