Rare Bernardaud Limoges l'Oeillet Pink Carnation Breakfast Cup Saucer Plate Set
Regular price
$316.00
Presented is a wonderful set of vintage L. Bernardaud & Co Limoges cups, saucers, and plates. These pieces are made in the A l'Oeillet pattern, which features decoration in the form of detailed pink carnations, with other little floral sprays and rim detailing in the same shade. The porcelain has a basket weave texture finely rendered beneath the glaze, for a nice tactile element. The cups are a wide, shallow style which I have seen called breakfast cups, almost like a bouillon soup bowl with only one handle, though of course these can be used for whatever beverage you like. This group would make a lovely breakfast set or a set for afternoon coffee and cake, with cups, saucers, and moderate size plates.
The set consists of: 3 breakfast cups—2 1/8 inches tall at the rim, 5 1/2 inches from handle to opposite side. 4 saucers—6 1/2 inches in diameter. 4 plates—7 1/2 inches in diameter.
Each piece is signed on the underside for L. Bernardaud & Co, Limoges France, as well as the pattern name, A l'Oeillet. Some of the pieces also have a retail mark for Christofle.
This set is in great overall condition. One of the saucers has a tiny nick to the rim. Another saucer has a small chip to the rim. One of the plates has a small chip to the underside, which is not visible unless you turn the plate over. All are usable. There are no other chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs. We are including with this set a fourth cup which has a chip and hairline to the rim, just because it is part of the set as it came to us; it is a free gift and does not factor in to the price of the set. If you don't want this cup, let us know and we will not ship it. -jm
