Presented is a unique necklace consisting of beads from northern Syria during the Ubaid period, circa 4300 BCE. The stringing and clasp of the necklace are not of this period, but given the age of the label on the display case, even the restringing has quite a bit of age to it. The beads are hand made from a variety of stones, quartz and other stones I'm not sure of the identity of, in deep rust red, beige, and black. The beads are roughly graduated in size, but are not strung in an orderly pattern. The necklace comes in a glass topped display box, the lid held in place with pins. A museum quality piece.
The necklace seems to be in good shape. The beads themselves have some chipping, which should probably be expected for 6000+ year old items. The clasp functions well. The display case is clean and houses the necklace nicely.
The strand is about 16 ½ inches long.
