Presented is a fantastic pair of antique American sterling silver pastry serving tongs. These tongs are made in the lovely Cloeta pattern by International, which began production in 1904.This pattern features beautiful designs of clusters of grapes, grape leaves, and curling vines in crisp high relief. The grasping ends of this pair of tongs are done in two different forms, one a finely veined and textured grape leaf and the other a scallop shape with pierced detailing. Though these are described as pastry serving tongs, they can be used for asparagus, sandwiches, ice, or whatever else you like.
This piece is in excellent condition. The details of the pattern are nice and crisp. There are no splits, no dents, no cracks, no breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The tongs are stamped with the maker's mark for International as well as sterling.
The tongs are about 6 ¼ inches long.
