Presented is an antique, sterling silver teapot made by Gorham in the Buttercup pattern. This fine quality piece is done in a stout form and the whole piece has buttercup flowers, leaf and scroll decorations in high relief. The raised designs are very detailed and textured. One side has a script monogram of the initials HSBS. There is a monogram on the underside of the date February 23, 1931, this monogram was added, probably over 15 to 20 years after the original production of the pot.
The underside is marked for Gorham, sterling silver purity and the product number A2342. The capacity is also stamped, for 1.5 pints or 24 ounces.
This piece is in excellent overall condition for its age and the raised designs are crisp. There are no damages and no repairs. The handle is tight to the body.
The teapot measures 8 1/2 inches from handle to spout and is 6 3/4 inches tall.
Weight: 412 grams or 14.5 ounces.
