Presented is a handsome continental European serving tray, dating to the 1700s. We think this piece is likely of Italian make, but we aren't sure. The tray is done in oval form, with paw and ball form feet and a decoratively gadrooned edge. The tray has a monogram of GL on the underside, but no monograms or engravings that are visible from the top. The tray is a good large size, suitable for a wide variety of serving or display purposes.
This piece is in good overall condition. There are old solder repairs to all four legs where they meet the tray, but only one is slightly noticeable from the top. There are no splits, no dents, and no monogram removals.
The underside of the tray is stamped five times with a maker's mark we unfortunately do not recognize.
The tray measures about 12 3/4 by 9 1/2 by 1 inch, LxWxH.
This piece weighs 605 grams or 21.3 regular ounces.
