Rare 1891 Danish Silver Aesthetic Movement Branch and Ladybug Serving Spoon
Regular price
$225.00
Presented is a rare antique Danish silver serving spoon, dated 1891. The handle of the spoon is beautifully designed as a realistic segmented branch, well rendered with vertical graining along the shaft and the concentric woodgrain rings visible in the end. The terminal of the handle has an applied silver ladybug or similar beetle, very charming. This type of naturalistic almost Aesthetic Movement style piece is not something you usually see in Danish silver, so this is a great collector's piece.
The spoon is stamped with the Danish three towers mark dated 1891, guaranteeing a minimum of 826 purity silver and an assay mark.
This piece is in excellent condition. The details of the designs are nice and crisp. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
This piece measures about 9 1/8 inches long.
The spoon weighs 63 grams or 2.2 regular ounces. -jm
