Rare 1796-1835 German .800 Silver Dolphin Fish Figural Candlesticks Johann Seeth
Regular price
$3,456.00
Presented is a fabulous pair of German silver candlesticks, dating to circa 1796-1835. The candlesticks are done in a lovely classical style, each supported by a trio of stylized dolphin or fish figures. The candlesticks are well made, with old bolt construction visible on the underside. German candlesticks of this quality and age are not an easy thing to find, particularly in such clean, good condition.
The candlesticks are in great condition. There are a couple of minor dings here and there, but nothing of any consequence. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
Each candlestick is stamped with the Augsburg city mark as well as a retail or maker's mark for Johann Alois Seethaler, active circa 1796-1835. There is also a mark of IBH, likely the maker with Seethaler being the retailer, but Seethaler worked as a silversmith as well as a retailer so we aren't sure. The candlesticks are tested and guaranteed at least 800 purity silver.
Each candlestick is about 10 1/2 inches tall.
The total weight for the pair is 804 grams or 28.4 regular ounces.
