Presented are beautifully hand crafted silver tongs by George Wintle in London during the first quarter of the 19th century. These tongs boast classic, shouldered fiddle pattern handles and have an old, original monogram of the initials JMF in a sinuous script. They are a good weight and size.
The inside is hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver, a date letter R for the year 1812 and George Wintle's maker's mark. There is also a faint duty mark, which has been polished mostly away.
This piece is in exceptional condition and unlike many antique tongs, this piece has never been repaired. There are no dents, no breaks, no splits, no monogram removals and no repairs.

The tongs measures 5 5/8 inches long and weigh 49 grams or 1.7 ounces.
