Portuguese Silver Bom Jesus Do Monte Raised Design Box 4"

Presented is a great silver box from the Bom Jesus Do Monte religious sanctuary in Portugal. This box is a simple round covered box except that it has a raised image of the sanctuary on the top. The bottom of the image has the name Bom Jesus Do Monte, Braga, and Portugal. The detail on the image is quite good and accurate. The steep steps with the chapels for the stations of the cross and the church at the top are beautifully rendered. The interior of the box has a lovely gold wash.

The box is hallmarked on the bottom and on the rim of the lid. The bottom of the box has the Portuguese Eagle with 833. This is the government mark with the purity of 833 indicated. The second mark on the bottom is the maker's mark. The lid has the maker's mark and another smaller purity mark on the rim. The box is in excellent condition and there are no cracks, no breaks, no dents, no monograms, no monograms removals, no repairs, and no problems of any kind with the piece.
