Presented is a lovely and rare pair of Gorham solid sterling silver breakfast knives. These knives are made in the Medallion pattern, which was patented in 1864. As the name suggests, this pattern features bold designs of classical Greco-Roman profiles in medallions on the handles. These knives have the profile of a young woman. The knives are monogrammed MER in flowing script on the back of the handle.
These knives are in great condition. The medallion designs are nice and crisp. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
Each piece is stamped with the Gorham maker's mark, sterling, the patent date of 1864 and the retailer's mark of George W Webb and Co..
The knives are 7 3/8 inches long.
