Pair Antique 1912 Gorham Sterling Silver Ribbon Bow Candlesticks 8"

Presented is a fabulous pair of Gorham sterling silver candlesticks, dated 1912. The candlesticks are beautifully decorated with ribbon and floral designs around the socle, on the shaft and on the base. One side of the shaft on each candlestick has a blank oval cartouche, while the other side has an oval cartouche with a monogram of BT in elegant script. This monogram would be easy to camouflage by displaying the candlesticks with this side to a wall, and the blank cartouche could easily be monogrammed by the buyer. The candlesticks are quite sturdy and well made, constructed from thick, heavy gauge silver. The thickness of the silver is particularly noticeable in the socle and the base.

These candlesticks are in great condition. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no cracks, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

The underside of each piece is stamped 'sterling' and with the maker's mark for Gorham, with a date symbol in the shape of a fish for 1912. There is also a retail mark for Spaulding & Co.

Each candlestick is about 8 inches tall.

The total weight for the pair is 664 grams or 23.4 regular ounces. There is a little bit of weighting in the bases, so not all of this weight is sterling silver, but the vast majority of it is.
