Ornate Set 12 c1910 Limoges French Gilt Dinner Plates Delinieres/Bernardaud

Presented is a fantastic set of 12 antique Limoges porcelain dinner plates, dating to the early 1900s. These plates were made and decorated by Bernardaud & Co (formerly Delinieres & Co) for retail by Higgins & Seiter, one of the foremost dealers in French porcelain. The plates have white centers with wide cream borders, fabulously hand decorated with intricate gold scrollwork and foliate designs. The gilt design has raised detailing, for a textural element that is very striking with the white and cream coloring of the plates. These are full large size dinners plates, and would make a very impressive addition to any table setting.

This set is in great overall condition. As you can see in the sixth photograph, one plate has had a chip repaired in the rim; this plate still rings well when tapped and doesn't have any cracks originating from the chip. The gilding is in great shape on all the plates. There are no other chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no other repairs.

Each plate is stamped with the mark for Delinieres & Co, France (green) as well as the mark for L. Bernardaud & Co, Limoges in red beneath. The retail mark is Higgins & Seiter, a high end retailer of glass and china goods in New York in the early 1900s.

Each plate measures about 10 3/8 inches in diameter. -jm
