Presented is a fine quality antique American Victorian coin silver napkin ring, dating to around the 1870s. The napkin ring is solid, with a very ornate design around the exterior of fine scrollwork, acanthus leaves, and little quatrefoils all against a finely pinstripe textured background. The napkin ring is very well made and has a nice feeling of weight and quality to it. The front has a navette shaped applied cartouche for a monogram or presentation, which has never been engraved.
This piece is not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be at least coin (900) purity silver.
This piece is in excellent condition. The decoration is exceptionally crisp. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The ring is about 1 1/2 inches tall, with an interior diameter of about 1 3/4 inches.
This napkin ring weighs 65 grams or 2.3 regular ounces.. -jm
